The House
One house, one group at a time.
- 6 guests
- 2 bedrooms
- 2 bathrooms
- 1 group at a time
Casa Branco is let as a whole. There is no reception, no shared corridors and nobody else in the next room. You open the street door and the house is yours until check-out.
Two bedrooms, two floors and a roof terrace. It sleeps six: four in proper beds and two on the sofa bed in the living room. The kitchen is equipped for real cooking, not just for reheating what you brought in.
The building is independent, with its own front door. The ceilings have whitewashed beams, the stairs are Borba marble, and at night it is as quiet as the town.

Borba and around
Wine, marble and quiet.
Borba is an Alentejo town off the tourist routes. It lives on wine and on marble — the same marble that makes the stairs in the house and the lintel over the front door. You can walk from one end to the other.
For the surrounding area you will want a car. Borba you do on foot; the rest you do not.
The two weeks when the town fills up
- August Festas em Honra do Senhor Jesus dos Aflitos
- November Festa da Vinha e do Vinho, the wine festival
If you want to come at either time, book early.
The weather
Mediterranean: hot dry summers, mild winters. The house has air conditioning and heating.

The family
Quim-da-Pudina.
In Borba, few people call him Joaquim Branco. They call him Quim-da-Pudina, and everyone knows who is meant.
He was born in 1947. He is married to Maria Cândida, has two daughters and four grandchildren. People who know him talk about his good humour and his generosity — and about how much he enjoys giving visitors a taste of what is made here.
River fishing is where he goes to be alone. That is where the fish in our logo comes from.
The house belongs to the family. We restored it and opened it to guests.
Who will meet you
Sofia answers the phone, handles the bookings and hands over the keys. If you need anything during your stay, she is the one to call. We speak Portuguese, English, Spanish and French.
